Ready, Steady, Talk!

An interactive workshop for educators where participants will try different activities and think about potential use in their practice and classrooms. We will begin with a short introduction to our work and Speech Stars (5 min), followed by three Speech Stars activities to try out. Participants will be invited to reflect on adapting the activities to be used with children individually, in small groups and with the whole class and will have access to all necessary resources and Speech Stars guidance documents (45 min). The event will finish with a summary and feedback (10 min).

Educators who attend the workshop will try three different activities and reflect on their potential in classrooms and nursery settings. Educators will engage with effective language learning opportunities and strategies to support their learners.

The outcomes of the workshops are as follows:

Educators will reflect on embedding language learning opportunities to support children’s speech, learn about the Speech Stars model, share good practice and activities and resources and walk away with practical ideas to try in their practice as part of their own continuing professional development.
